Dragon Boat Festival is on the fifth day of the lunar May. On that day, people take wormwood on their doors, and the fragrance of wormwood penetrates the whole house. People eat rice dumplings sprinkled with white sugar. Rowing dragon boats brings joy to people. The labor union of JIAWENLI(Fujian) Cosmetics Co., Ltd. held a fascinating game of making rice dumplings in the canteen on May 26th , which enabled the workers to feel the joyful festival atmosphere of Dragon Boat Festival and have a warm holiday.

A few days before the Dragon Boat Festival, the labor union prepared materials for the activity of making rice dumplings. They bought the necessities, such as reed leaves, polished glutinous rice, streaky pork, seasoning and so on, which made adequate preparation to celebrate a warm festival for the staff. At 2 p.m of May 26th , the game officially began. As soon as it began, the leaves and hemp ropes were dancing on the hands of the staff. Some of them twisted the reed leaves into a cone, then they pressed them with glutinous rice and tied a knot with a string, which was so deft and graceful. In this way, a clean-cut rice dumpling was made in a flash. Because of the lack of experience, some staff’s rice dumplings became scattered before tying up with string, and the glutinous rice spilled all over the table. A few minutes later, all kinds of grotesque rice dumplings started to take shape: triangle, quadrangle, rectangle and flat shape, every one of them has its own characteristics.

What we do is not only making rice dumplings, but also carrying forward traditional folk customs and enriching the life of staff. The game lasted for more than an hour, and the "Ingenious Housewife" gradually surfaced. The No.1 is Wang Qiurong, the No.2 are Pan Chunli and He Guannv. Under the guidance of them, many staff who have never made rice dumplings have gradually get the hang of it and they have also experienced the long cultural history and tradition implied in it during the learning process.
